Everything started in 1897 when 17 year old Giuseppe Garbuio set up a shoe company - Fabbrica Scarpe Montello. Twenty years later mountain climbing gained popularity which contributed to Garubio’s company success.
In 1954 Achille Compagnoni and Lino Lacedelli reached the summit of K2 - the highest peak of Karakorum and the second highest mountain in the world. They were wearing Dolomite shoes! They also climbed to the top of Dhaulagiri the “White Mountain” in 1960, explored Greenland in 1966 and reached the peak of Monte Fitz Roy in Patagonia in 1976.
